Part 8 : Childhood

As much as I could tell about Voldemort, he would have had been a very quiet kid (when he was 5 – 6 years old). He would remain away from other children and think and experience things all by himself. I make these conclusions not by Harry Potter books but by what I have written about till now and little by observing behaviour of my cousin who happens to be of the same age (but neither an orphan nor a witch :P)

The little Tom Marvolo when first opened his eyes; he was miles away from his world – his destiny. In the muggle orphanage, he was brought up with other muggle orphans, no mention of magic or anything else. But surely little Tom did feel bad for not having a family. If I can work it out correctly, our little Voldemort would always feel despair, sad, hopeless, hurt… not for something bad happened to him but he had this in his blood. Al the guilt and anger right from Salazar Slytherin was in him…and also the emotions of Merope…Voldemort would feel whatever his mother felt and experienced in her last days (all the things I have already written). So he would, by no fault of his feel bad and angry and slowly as he grew a little and probably discovered about his mother, his name, he must have thought that he will surely revenge his mother and not leave the man who left his mother and him to die. Here was when little Tom Marvolo Riddle took steps to become Voldemort. He felt very strongly for his mother and equally hated his father (for of course he must have been told that his mother was in bad condition when she delivered him and named him after his father and his maternal grandfather. And he was in orphanage so surely his father didn’t want him)

Mind you this is a very strong emotion and he made it stronger by adding hatred (for his father) and love (for his mother). Now when he was developing such strong emotions, I guess its now when he gained a super control over his mind. When underage (under the age of 11) wizards feel some strong emotion, or feel very strongly about something, magic is likely to happen (just like it did for Ariana or Harry) and I guess that now Tom Marvolo, did magic for the first time (at the age of 5 or 7) and being from such an intelligent family (maternal); he surely figured something weird with him…not weird exactly but an extra edge over others and because he already had strong emotions, it wasn’t really difficult for him to have a strong will.
