Part 1 : Salazar Slytherin

As far as I know the character, he was just like a little child who had something due to which others look upto him. If I know the kid corectly, even if he owns a packet of chocolates, it is enough for him to show them off and yet not give anyone and be jealous from anyone who gets it too. Try comparing Salazar to this chid. He had his magi and was possessive about it. He wanted to be just with his descendents so that they are special and not all the kids.
Frankly, isnt this what all parents want? Anyways, thats a question for you to answer. Moving ahead, this ontroversy earned him an amazingly bad name.

Amazingly bad because due to this people forgot his merits. I really didnt exist in that world but I, as an ardent fan, know that Slytherin was a friend of Gryffindor...maybe just a scholar - friend...probably they too like Dumbledore - Grindewald had common interests of enhancing magical education. But even so, we must agree that Slytherin must have an excellant intellect that the other three founders (mind you uncluding Rowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff) overlooked his attitude (a thing that never changes) and welcomed him heartily.

For even a bigger proof, Salazar Slytherin helped buid the Hogwarts and his contributions must have been large enough for a whole house to be named after him and even after the fight, the house name wasnt changed. This is a good estimate to that his contributions were extremely large to overcome his thoughts.
